Emergency Contraceptive

Emergency contraceptive or morning after pill is a method to prevent unwanted pregnancy. The most popular brand in Malaysia is Postinor.

You can find it easily in all major leading pharmacies. However, they didn't put this on the shelves. You have to ask the pharmacist who usually sits behind the counter located at the back of the pharmacy. The price is around RM3.90-RM5 per box. I think you can get it for RM3.90 at Watson's. However, if Postinor is out of stock, the pharmacist might offers you other brand. One i encounter was this brand :

It's okay if the brand is different because it still comes in the same composition which is 0.75mg levonorgestrel each tablet.

When to use it?
- if no contraceptive measure was taken during intercourse (tidak menggunakan perancang kehamilan)
- tear or slip or inappropriate use of condom (korang ganas sangat sampai kondom koyak)
- unsuccessfully interrupted coitus (tak sempat ejaculate di luar)
- erroneous calculation of fertile days (kiraan waktu subur yang tidak meyakinkan/tepat)
- IUD loss or removal (IUD korang hilang tak tau pi mana)
- omitting the ingestion of hormonal contaceptive (lupa makan pil perancang/muntah lepas makan pil)
- rape (kena rogol)

How to use it? (read carefully)
I know some people are too lazy to read the leaflet. So i'll be your guide.
The pill comes in 2 tablets per box. First tablet should be ingested within 72 hours following intercourse. (Tak payah lah nak tunggu sampai 72 jam ye. The sooner you consume, the more effective it becomes. Senang macam ni, sentiasa spare a box or two with you). The second tablet should be consumed 12 hours after the first tablet. Please note, you have to plan your timing carefully. For example, if you take the first tablet at 3pm, it means you have to take the second one at 3am. Ask yourself, can you wake up at 3am to take the second tablet? If you can't, delay the consumption for few hours. Maybe you can take it around 10pm so the next tablet will due at 10am.
If vomitting occurs within 2 hours after drug intake, the dose must be repeated. (start all over again)

IMPORTANT
Do not exceed 2 doses per month. That means, the maximum you can consume is total of 4 tablets in 1 month. Morning after pill (MAP) is NOT a substitute for birth control pill (BC). MAP is like a high dose of BC. That is why it's called 'emergency contraceptive'. The high dose will mess up your period and system. If you are having regular unprotected sex, i advise you to take BC instead. This will be featured in my next entry.

*for any further inquiries about this pill, please write it in comment box. I'll attend to it promptly.

Tampon for beginner

I'm sure a lot of you are skeptical on tampon usage. Out of curiosity, i bought my first tampon when i was in secondary school. I bailed out after few unsuccessful attempts to insert it inside me. When I told my mum, she took it and told me i shouldn't use tampon because once it absorbed the fluid, the cotton will expand to a size of baby's head! Few years later i found out she lied to me. -_-"

There are 2 types of tampons. One is applicator tampon and another one is digital tampon. I will give you further explanation on the differences.

Applicator Tampon

From my experience, this is the best one for beginners. It's easier and more hygienic. The popular brands for applicator tampons are Playtex and Tampax. The applicator acts as syringe. The cotton is located inside the barrel, which will be inserted inside your vagina. The smaller tube will be pushed in and it will 'inject' the cotton further inside you. Then, just pull out the barrel, the string will be hanging out. When it's time to remove the tampon, just squat and pull down the string. Don't worry, the string is strong enough. However, applicator tampon is pricier than the digital one.

Digital Tampon

This is the cheaper alternative. The only brand of digital tampon i could find in Malaysia is o.b. It comes wrapped in a clear plastic with no applicator. Remove the plastic wrapper and using your finger, push it inside as deeper as you could. I find this difficult for me because i have a very small hand and err..petite fingers. My deepest apparently is not deep enough. If it's not inserted deep enough, you will feel something stuck inside you and this can be uncomfortable. If you have long finger, then you are lucky. The removal remains the same. Just pull out the string.

Tampons come in various sizes, which are related to their absorbency ratings and packaging. The two main differences are in the way the tampon expands when in use. For example, applicator tampons will expand axially (increase in length) while digital tampons will expand radially (increase in diameter).

Disclaimer

Usage of tampon has been associated with Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS). It's a rare but serious illness that can be fatal. The symptoms include sudden high fever, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, dizziness and fainting. If you experience this and are using tampon, remove it immediately. To reduce the risk of developing TSS, please follow this guidelines :
  • choose the lowest absorbency needed to control your flow
  • change your tampon at least every 4-6 hours depending on the flow
  • always read the instruction leaflet enclosed in the box
  • alternate between tampons and pads

Okay, don't get panic. I've been using tampons for years and i have never experience TSS. Just don't use the Super Absorbency when you have a light flow. Usually i use tampon when i need to wear something tight, that cling to my body. I don't want people to see the outline of the bulging pad on my butt. That's worse than VPL (visible panty line). A tip for you, during the insertion, relax your muscle. If you panic or scared, your muscle will contract and it will tighten your 'tunnel', thus making it more difficult. Take a deep breath and find the best position. Read the instruction leaflet, there's a few suggested pose you can try.

As for guys, if you are wondering whether we get turned on while inserting the tampon inside our vagina, NO we don't.

Stage cosmetics on sales

Girls, this sales already started since last month but it still ongoing until end of this month. Stage cosmetics are similar to other brands like MAC or Bobbi Brown but slightly cheaper. For example, Stage lipstick costs RM50 while the one from MAC will cost you around RM60++. However, i find the quality is as good as other popular brands.

I'm sure some of you never heard of Stage cosmetics (because i got ppl asking about it) but they have outlets in Pavillion and Mid Valley. I found out about this sales from a tweep of mine. If you walk past the store, you wouldn't guess they having sales because they put this very small signage on product clearance. Honestly, it looks like they don't want the public to know about it. Ha ha. It's very CHEAP too!!

So, this is what i bought for myself :

From left : Liquid foundation RM12, two way cake foundation RM125 (buy 1 free 1), lipstick RM12.

Yes, your eyes are clear, the liquid foundation and lipstick are only RM12 each. So, i went crazy like a kiddo in a candy store and decided 3 tubes of liquid foundation, one case of two way foundation (another case i share it with a friend) and 3 lipsticks are still not enough, i bought these :

The lipliners are RM8 each, eyeliner RM12, brow pencil (which glides on oh so smoothly) RM12 and eyeshadow RM12. How crazy is that?

Not only i bought myself a bag full of make up, i also bought a handful for my girfriends for their belated birthday pressies.

Don't preach me about 'pembaziran' okay, because clearly, you are insane if you didn't buy these. I mean, when can you get a good lipstick that costs RM12? This is only one time off. If you love lipgloss, they are on sales too, RM12 each! I didn't buy it because i never wear one. I just lick my lips and tadaaaaa..they become glossy! Ok, kidding. I hate lipgloss. I think it makes my lips look oily.

I fell in love with the lipstick instantly. I always love matte (dry and not shiny) lipstick and this one glides on smoothly. It doesn't leave my lips chapped or dry. Surprisingly, i bought red lipstick (i always wear nude color) and i love love love it. Try -Stage Scarlet 29 with Rubescent Red 08 lip liner.

Drop by at your nearest Stage outlet now while stocks last.
